Continuing from Cisano sul Neva to the north, you will reach the town of Zuccarello in a few minutes.

Founded by the Marquises of Clavesana Del Carretto in 1326, Zuccarello was the capital of their domain, and there they establish the seat of the marquis palace which today is a private residence.

Visit of the town

The castle at the top of the hill can be reached in a twenty-minute walk from the center; to the castle are connected the towers that control the access to the town and the walls that surround it.

In the village it is possible to visit the medieval bridge, reachable from the center through a vaulted lane.

It represents one of the most beautiful Roman symbols of Liguria.

From Zuccarello starts the “sentiero di Ilaria” (Ilaria’s path), a hiking trail that connects Zuccarello to Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena through Mediterranean vegetation, vegetable gardens, terracings, olive groves, chestnut groves and spring bloomings.

Easy, gently sloping, it is 3 kilometers long and can be walked through by anyone without problems.
