Landscape Itinerary n. 5

Bordighera - Perinaldo - Apricale - Baiardo - Bordighera

From Bordighera go to Vallecrosia (km 2), then - turning right - enter the Crosia Valley passing by San Biagio della Cima, Soldano and finally Perinaldo (566 m - 14.5 km).

Excursion to San Pancrazio
(trekking)

At the end of Perinaldo (about 600 m), along the Provincial Road 61 to Colle dei Termini and San Romolo, a sign indicates the direction to San Pancrazio, optimistically signaling the route in 1 hour and 15 minutes (taking into account that there are 250 meters of difference in altitude), which is the same time of the identical return route (which, however, is all downhill).

For a quiet walk it takes just under 2 hours (one way).

The path develops (high on the same route as the Provincial Road, of which traffic noise is sometimes heard) on an old paved road in some stretches in perfect conditions, whose sight alone is worth a trip.

After about two hours of walking, you’ll reach the half-destroyed Church of San Pancrazio (855 m).

After returning to Perinaldo, on the Provincial Road 62 go down to Apricale (m 275 - km 22) another village with interesting vestiges; from there go up to Bajardo (900 m - 34.5 km) clinging to the top of a hill. Once at Passo Ghimbegna (898 m), choose to climb towards Monte Ceppo among the many options.

The roadway reaches the highest point at the pass called Croce di Praesto (1505 m - 47 km).

From the pass, a path between the meadows rises in 20 minutes to the summit of Monte Ceppo (1627 m) with an exceptional view of Monte Toraggio and Pietravecchia.

From Croce di Praesto descend now towards Carmo Langan passing by the fifteenth century church of San Giovanni dei Prati (1240 m - 50 km). Turning right upon reaching a junction (1094 m) you’ll encounter Carmo Langan pass (m 1127 - km 54).

Ignore the road on the right that leads to Colla Melosa, go down towards Val Nervia to Pigna (240 m - 68 km), Isolabona (106 m - 77 km), Dolceacqua (91 m - 81 km) up to the Aurelia (km 88) and then to Bordighera (km 91).

During the journey, depending on the time you have available, all the villages you will pass by deserve an in-depth visit for the artistic treasures and the environmental values they express.
