Nasino stands with its ten hamlets, some of which with roofs covered with the ancient stone "ciappe", almost at the border with the province of Cuneo (most of the upper Val Pennavaire is in Piedmont).  In the hamlets live 240 inhabitants, among the terracing strips planted with olive trees and the first chestnut groves of Mount Galero.

All around are true Alps, where the limestone that forms the mountains creates karst caves inhabited by humans in prehistoric times (the Arma of Nasino, one of the over fifty caves of the Val Pennavaire, bears human traces starting from 7000 BC) and steep walls where birds of prey nest.

Visit of the town

From the center of Nasino you can take one of the paths that go up to Mount Alpe (1056 m) or to Mount Castell'Ermo (1092 m), to Pizzo di Penne (1405 m) and to Mount Galero (1708 m) and go looking for herds, flocks and shepherds.

On clear days you can enjoy the panorama of the Ligurian arched coastline, the Apuan Alps and Corsica.
