Back to Pieve di Teco, take the road to Armo at the beginning of the village on the right.

With its 112 inhabitants, Armo is the smallest municipality in the Province and certainly one of the smallest in Italy; historically it has always followed the fortunes of Pieve di Teco.

The name of the place could be of typically pre-Roman origin (among the various examples we can cite both the personal name of Celtic origin Aramo and that of the topical divinity in the Gard Aramon), or it could probably also derive from the Germanic personal name Armo.

Finally, we cannot rule out the hypothesis that the toponym may also be a masculine variant of “arma” (cave), a place name typical of Liguria and that could have given rise to the toponym of the famous coastal town of Arma di Taggia.

In this small village, where strong attention is paid to the roots, a dialectal poetry competition entitled "Le veglie di Armo" is organized every year.

Currently, ancient traditions that have disappeared elsewhere are still alive, such as the transhumance of cattle carried out by the shepherds of Armo towards Colle del Lago dei Signori in the pasture of Bassa di Sant'Erim.

Visit the town

Leaving the car on the widening at the beginning of the village you can go down the ramp on the left that leads to the oratory of the Immaculate Conception with a bas-relief of the Virgin in the marble plaque of the early seventeenth century affixed on the façade.
